Description

Acai is a type of palm tree berry found all around the Amazon river, Rio Negro and Solimoes in Brazil, a much revered fruit which has celebrations in the form of a festival on the banks of the Amazon in Codojas.

In the last few years it has found fame in the UK and has achieved superfood status.

It has the highest known Antioxidant (Orac) value of any edible fruit. Other constituents include proteins, vitamins B2, B3, C and E. It is also high in Omega 6 and 9. It has 33 times more anthocyanins than red wine grapes.

It is a good detoxifier, aids in sexual function, aids digestion, good for the skin, an immune booster and also has anti-aging properties.
